eMedical Academy Publishes New Case Study Discussing Partnership with the Department of Anesthesia in the Children’s Hospital of Boston

Boston, US – March 15, 2019 – eMedical Academy online ultrasound school for Point-of-Care ultrasound continuing education recently published a new case study on their website. The case study explores how the Department of Anesthesia in Boston’s Children’s Hospital decided to use virtual ultrasound courses from eMedical Academy to train staff in multiple locations to meet departmental objectives.

The Department of Anesthesia faced with an ambitious goal of training 120 Anesthesia attendings on point of care ultrasound over three years. However, there were many challenges in achieving this objective through in-person lectures alone.

One of the specific challenges faced by the department included the fact that in-person lectures were difficult to schedule conveniently for such a large group of clinicians, primarily due to the demanding workload of clinical staff. Furthermore, members of this clinical staff were often working in multiple satellite locations.

Incorporating eMedical Academy virtual ultrasound courses into the training curriculum addressed these challenges, while still enabling the department to deliver and clinicians to receive quality ultrasound education and instruction in a virtual environment.

eMedical Academy’s eViews were first released to the group as a precursor to a hands-on workshop. The workshop was followed by on the job practice. Additional online ultrasound courses were released to users following the workshop to maximize trainees’ free time with independent learning.

The expertise of the attendings was further grown using eMedical Academy’s eClips. As stated in the case study, “eMedical Academy worked closely with the organization to customize the course to the needs of the institution’s program.”

Additionally, the online courses’ release was aligned with the internal workshop, accommodating three cycles of trainees, and creating an internal certification process based on eMedical Academy’s post-training test.
